Dear Anaheim Family YMCA Community,
Schools out and summer is full swing at the Anaheim YMCA!
If you’re looking to try something new, the Anaheim Family YMCA is the place to be. Our summer programming has something for everyone, and the excitement is already underway.
This summer, over 4,500 children and adults will make a splash with Y Swim lessons, while more than 500 ballers begin a new era of YMCA Basketball through the our new Jr. Clippers youth basketball league!
We’ve seen a surge in enrollment in our Dance, Musical Theater, and Gymnastics, proof that kids are eager to move, create and compete this summer!
Summer Volleyball Programs
We’re excited about the momentum around our Summer Volleyball League and Clinics. Did you know volleyball was invented at the YMCA in 1895? Today, it’s one of our most popular and growing programs, helping young athletes build confidence, teamwork, and skills on the court. With Olympic volleyball set to take center stage here in Anaheim at the 2028 Summer Olympics, we’re proud to shape the next generation of players in our community.
YMCA of Ukraine Visit
Recently, we had the honor of hosting two members from the YMCA of Ukraine. Despite the ongoing war, their commitment to serving youth through camps and recovery programs is deeply inspiring. A special thank you to the Anaheim Rotary club for supporting our connection with YMCA Ukraine and helping highlight their incredible work.
Jr. Clippers “Game On” Celebration
To celebrate our new LA Clipper partnership, we held a Game On Celebration Day where the new Jr. Clippers uniforms were officially unveiled. We were thrilled to be joined by City Councilmembers Carlos Leon and Ryan Balius, and YMCA leaders Michael Johnson, Kay Carpenter, and Carmen Koo.
Angels Nike RBI
Over 150 YMCA youth baseball players at our program satellite center at Anaheim Zion Lutheran Church participated on Saturday, May 31, in the third Angels Nike RBI closing ceremony. The players demonstrated the skills they learned throughout the season. A big thank you to the Angels Baseball Foundation for their generous support which allowed Anaheim youth to begin their baseball journey.
YMCA Swim Lessons
Our YMCA swim lessons are making a big splash at the Cypress College Aquatic Center! We’re grateful to Cypress College for this partnership and their shared commitment to water safety and ensuring no child drowns in our community.
The Anaheim Family YMCA is proud to hire many young local adults as swim instructors and lifeguards, giving them a chance to lead and make a difference. If you or someone you know is passionate about teaching swimming or lifeguarding, we are always looking for committed individuals to join our team.
YMCA Partners Appreciation Breakfast
This spring, we held our first YMCA Partners Appreciation Breakfast at the Downtown Anaheim Youth Center. It was a joy to honor the supporters and organizations that help power our mission every day.
Thank You, Michael Johnson
Lastly, I want to give a heartfelt thank you to Michael Johnson, who will be ending his 2-year term as our Board Chair on June 30th. His tireless energy, direction and leadership over the past two years has paved a vision that will allow us to break ground this year on phase 2 of our community complex, an expansion that will impact thousands of residents in our community for years to come. We’re excited to share that Nicole Provansal, Director of Community Relations at Angels Baseball, will take on the role of Board Chair next, bringing her leadership and dedication to guide us into our next chapter.
We also recognize and thank the following Board Members who are concluding their terms: Marty Dutch, Jesse Ben-Ron, Lucille Kring, Carol Bostwick, and Gina Arreola. Your dedication has made a lasting difference.
