May 16, 2024 – The Angels Baseball Foundation and the Anaheim Family YMCA today announced a new partnership that will engage children, ages 7 to 8, in the Angels Nike RBI League. This fully funded collaborative initiative integrates baseball, sportsmanship, fitness, and positive character programming.
“We are excited to partner with Anaheim Family YMCA to support youth sports in Anaheim,” said Angels Baseball Foundation President Dennis Kuhl. “Our goal is to create a fun and safe environment for the children in Anaheim to enjoy baseball while building values and character as they learn the game.”
The Angels Baseball Foundation will host an “Opening Day” at Willow Park, Anaheim, on May 18, 2024 to launch the program. Children will be grouped into six teams and will be part of an eight-week league. Once a week, the teams will hold practice, followed immediately by a game.
“This collaboration with the Angels Baseball Foundation is an important part of our community impact”, said Michael Johnson YMCA Board Chair. “Our primary goal is to deliver services that are important to our Anaheim neighborhoods. Baseball is such a program that serves community needs and builds partnership.”
“The YMCA and the Angels Baseball are very much aligned in both our healthy living and youth development efforts,” said Brent Finlay, President & CEO of the Anaheim Family YMCA. “We are excited to begin working with the Angels on elevating the baseball experience for our kids and better preparing our coaches to help Y kids reach their potential. By targeting youth health and wellness, we can ensure that youth across the greater Anaheim areas can thrive.”
In addition, the two organizations will work together to identify and offer a range of experiences and opportunities to grow the game of baseball while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for Anaheim’s youth. The Anaheim Family YMCA has also started a Sunday T-ball league for ages 3 to 6 at its YMCA Community Complex.
