A New Chapter Begins: Anaheim Family YMCA Breaks Ground on Phase 2 of Community Complex

On August 7, 2025, we gathered with our YMCA families, board members, donors, community partners, and Anaheim elected officials to celebrate the groundbreaking of Phase 2 of our Community Complex.

The day was filled with excitement, gratitude, and a shared vision for what’s ahead. We were honored to welcome several notable guests in attendance, including Senator Lou Correa, Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken, Councilmember Norma Campos Kurtz, and Councilmember Ryan Balius. We also thank our dedicated Anaheim Family YMCA Board Members for joining us: Pepe Avila, Bharat Patel, Kay Carpenter, Jim Dinwiddie, Michael Johnson, Dara Maleki, and Board Chair Nicole Provansal.

This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the incredible generosity of our supporters and the belief that together, we can create spaces where youth and families thrive.

Coming in 2026, Phase 2 will bring even more opportunities for play, connection, and healthy living, including:

  • Outdoor Sports Pavilion – Three full-size basketball courts plus multi-sport space

  • Pickleball Courts – Fast, fun, and welcoming for all ages

  • Street Hockey Rink – Supported by the Anaheim Ducks and built for community play

  • Expanded Parking Lot – More spaces for your convenience

“This project continues the historic legacy of the Anaheim Family YMCA, founded in 1911 and currently serving over 15,000 youth and families across Anaheim and surrounding communities,” said Brent Finlay, Anaheim Family YMCA President & CEO. “The future is bright, and we’re just getting started.”

Phase 2 builds upon the success of Phase 1, which brought six soccer arenas, restrooms, and parking to the site. With each step forward, the Community Complex grows into a vibrant hub for sports, recreation, and connection… a place where every member of the community can feel welcome and inspired.

From basketball games under the sun, to friendly pickleball matches, to street hockey tournaments that bring neighbors together, we can’t wait to see how this space will create lasting memories for years to come.
