Brent Finlay Brings 30+ Years’ Experience to Organization

The Anaheim Family YMCA has named Brent Finlay as its new President & Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2022. Selected by the Y’s Board of Directors, following a 4-month search, Finlay will succeed Rick Martens who announced his retirement in July and departs on December 31st, 2021, after 4 years of leading the organization. The Search Committee reviewed an exceptional and diverse pool of candidates from both inside and outside the Y before thoughtfully selecting a uniquely qualified individual who brings over 30 years of experience to lead the Anaheim Family YMCA at this critical juncture in our organization’s history. The Anaheim Family YMCA Board of Directors unanimously approved Finlay’s appointment as the new President & CEO on Tuesday, November 23rd.

In his new role, Brent Finlay will leverage his experience to guide the Anaheim Family YMCA’s growth. Brent will be responsible for: developing and implementing Anaheim YMCA’s strategic plan, positioning the Y as a vital partner for community change, and taking the lead on the Y’s capital campaign.

With Brent Finlay’s experience working with people to solve complex organizational and leadership challenges and his passion towards education, healthy living, and social responsibility, we are convinced that the Anaheim Family YMCA will have fantastic leadership for years to come.”

Brent Finlay comes to the organization with 30+ years of experience with the Y, recently serving at the West Valley YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles where he has served as the Executive Director for the past 2 years. Prior to the West Valley YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, Brent has worked for YMCA of Findlay as President & CEO. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Idaho and Bachelor of Science at the University of North Dakota. Brent is a certified YMCA Organizational Leader & a past YMCA of the USA Trainer and was recognized as the Hancock County (Ohio) Non-Profit Leader of the year in 2017. In 2020, the West Valley YMCA was recognized as a top Non-Profit Organization by the West Valley Chamber of Commerce.
