Annual Dinner Recap
Board honors key players and installs new officers.
The Anaheim Family YMCA Board of Directors honored Board Member Paul Kott and YMCA Staff Member Sheanna Overhuls at their Annual Dinner at Bella Marri’s Italian Restaurant on July 6.
Kott received the 2006 Charles Pearson Award, named after the Anaheim YMCA’s founder, for demonstrating exceptional character and helping the YMCA fulfill its tradition of excellence in service. Owner of Paul Kott Realtors in Anaheim, Kott has been actively involved as a YMCA board member, and previously served as board chair during 2002-2003. The award was presented by last year’s recipient, Board Member Stan Pawlowski. Kott called his work with the YMCA a “labor of love” and said he was truly honored at the recognition.
Overhuls, executive assistant to the president, received the Employee of the Year award. YMCA Board Chair Carol Bostwick described her as quiet, efficient and steadfast, and as someone who consistently puts forth “service with a smile.”
In addition to the awards, the Board of Directors presented its 2006-2007 officers. John Green, management consultant for the YMCA of USA, led the installation of the new officers, including: Carol Bostwick, board chair; Rich Martin and Joe Chatelle, vice chairs; Mike Bonk, secretary; Chuck Steichen, treasurer; Frank Jacobson, assistant treasurer; Bruce Solari and Paul Kott, members at large; and Irv Pickler, immediate past chair.
The Annual Dinner also featured a “Year in Review” with reports from Campaign Chair Rich Martin, President and CEO Paul Andresen and Future Directions Chair Bruce Solari. Martin reported the current total of the Strong Kids, Strong Future campaign at $232,327, which is 101 percent of the $230,000 goal, and thanked campaign leaders Paul Kott, Mike Bonk and Jim Dinwiddie. Andresen highlighted a decade of program and financial growth as the Anaheim Family YMCA celebrates its 95th anniversary this year. Solari summarized the 2005-2008 Strategic Planning Initiatives and spoke of future facility expansion possibilities.
Special attendees included Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, Supervisor Lou Correa, a representative for Assemblywoman Lynn Daucher, Board Member and former City Councilman Frank Feldhaus, former Orange County Supervisor Cynthia Coad and her husband Tom Coad.
