The YMCA Parent/Child Program is designed to help children and parents communicate effectively through fun activities, while building understanding and mutual respect. The teaching of values, attitudes, fitness, health, knowledge and ethics to children is an integral part of the program.

The YMCA Parent/Child Program is for any boy or girl in kindergarten through third grade and his or her parent. There are four groups:
- Father / Son
- Father / Daughter
- Mother /Son
-
Mother / Daughter

"I first became interested in the program because I was looking for a way to spend quality time with my daughter [a difficult task for a full-time working mother,]" said Sharon Spradley. "My daughter Alyssa and I will soon be starting our eighth year with the program."

What a great program it has turned out to be! It has enabled Sharon and Alyssa to grow closer, meet new friends and experience fun outings together.. "I always thought that just being home every night was providing the interaction my daughter needed," Sharon said. "I found out through this program that quality time means direct attention, without the common distractions of home."
