YOUTH & GOVERNMENT

In YOUTH & GOVERNMENT, high school students in 10th-12th grades model “Democracy in Action”  through a year-long leadership program. During this mock legislative process, a group of Anaheim students team up to write a bill, conduct research, lobby for votes, hold mock elections, and debate their bill on the Senate and Assembly floors at our State Capitol. Youth & Government is the only youth program allowed to use state legislative and judicial chambers.

Each year, more than 2,000 student delegates representing 100 California YMCAs meet at Sacramento to experience political life first hand. The program builds self-confidence and public speaking skills.

MODEL UNITED NATIONS PROGRAM

The California YMCA Youth & Government Model United Nations (MUN) is a program for 7th-9th graders throughout the state. Students are given the opportunity to engage in international issues, current affairs, politics and economics; discover other cultures; make friends and have a lot of fun.

The four-month program culminates Spring 2012 when delegates from around the state meet in Pasadena to establish their own student-run United Nations.
