YMCA WEST-HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CENTER

 

Fitness/Aerobics Instructor

  • Duties: Provide customer service, guidance, and leadership in all program areas specific to the group exercise setting, including cardiovascular exercise, muscle conditioning, and flexibility.  Lead group exercise classes in a safe, effective and timely manner with the intent to enhance the physical, mental and spiritual health of each participant.
  • Qualifications: CPR/AED, First Aid required within 30 days of hire; Group exercise and or aerobics instructor Certification (YMCA, ACE, ACSM, AFAA, etc.).  Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills and have the ability to communicate physically and verbally with large and small groups.  Must possess the physical ability to lead and interact in exercise/fitness activities; capability to work with members of all fitness levels and abilities. Must be at least 18 years of age with a H.S. Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Hours: Part Time Afternoons & Evenings M-F
  • Wage: $12.00-$15.00/hr. (Depending on Education/Experience); Benefits not applicable

Yoga  Instructor

ANAHEIM ACHIEVES AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

** Anaheim Achieves positions require applicants to pass a Proficiency Test in Reading, Language Arts, Writing & Mathematics as well as go through a formal interview, reference process and background check.

Anaheim Achieves After School Program – Elementary School Group Leaders and Substitutes

  • Duties: Provide homework assistance/tutor individuals or large groups of students (ages 5-12 yrs). Observe and manage behavior of students according to approved procedures under the direction of the Program Supervisor. Be alert & sensitive to individual needs of children and follow all health/safety practices. Will need to attend various on-going training sessions.
  • Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age with a H.S. Diploma or G.E.D.; 1-2 years college preferred; Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Hours: Mon-Fri 11am-6pm; Part-Time Non-Exempt hourly position; hours vary. 
  • As a Substitute, hours and days worked will vary depending on available shifts. This is a year-round program; summer-only positions are not available.
  • Wage: $9.25-11.25/hr (depending on qualifications); benefits not applicable.

Anaheim Achieves After School Program - Junior High School Group Leader

  • Duties: Provide homework assistance/tutor individuals and large groups of students (ages 12-15). Observe and manage behavior of students according to approved policies/procedures under the direction of the Program Supervisor. Be alert & sensitive to individual needs of the youth and follow all health/safety practices. Will need to attend various on-going training sessions.
  • Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age with a H.S. Diploma or G.E.D.; 1-2 years college preferred; Bi-Lingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Hours: Mon-Fri 12:15pm-6pm; Part-Time Non-Exempt hourly position; hours vary.

  • Hours: Mon-Thurs 2:30pm-6:30pm + some Friday & Saturdays; Note: Hours & Days worked will vary; H.S. program runs 156 days per year; sites closed during summer and various days throughout the year.

YOUTH SPORTS

Gymnastics Coach

  • Duties: Will perform gymnastics activities and supervise children of various ages. 
  • Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age with a H.S. Diploma or G.E.D., with 1-2 years experience coaching gymnastics.
  • Hours: Monday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.; Tuesday 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.; Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.; Saturday 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Worksite: Dale Jr. High School and Anaheim Downtown Youth Center
  • Wage: $10.00/hr; benefits not applicable

Recreation Fitness Instructor

  • Duties: Will instruct sports activities with preschool age children and young youth (basketball, soccer, tumbling, trampoline, group games, relay races, track & field, etc.); will assist in planning, organizing and instructing a variety of recreational and self-esteem activities.
  • Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age with a H.S. Diploma or G.E.D., at least 1 year experience working with children in related activities.
  • Hours: Thursday afternoons, Friday/Saturday mornings (exact hours TBD)

CHILDREN'S STATION FACILITY

Preschool Teacher

  • Duties: Will provide developmental childcare to toddlers & preschool age children.
  • Qualifications:  Must have completed at least 12 ECE (Early Childhood Education) core units; Must be at least 18 years of age with a H.S. Diploma or G.E.D.  No experience necessary-will train!
  • Hours: Part-Time Non-Exempt Position; Hours Vary

  • Qualifications:  Provide homework assistance/tutor individuals or small groups of students (ages 5-12 yrs).   Reinforce instruction in academic or enrichment activities.  Observe and manage behavior of students according to approved procedures under the direction of the Site Program Supervisor.  Be alert and sensitive to individual needs of the children and follow all health and safety practices. Ability to role model YMCA Character Development Program & Asset Development Program.  Assist Site Program Supervisor preparing student Academic portfolios.
  • Hours:  M-F 2:30-6:30pm   Part-Time Positions

 

Anaheim Achieves After School Program Enrichment Providers

  • Qualifications: Provide skill building for children in one of four general areas: Performing/Visual Art (dance, drama, choir, arts/crafts, music appreciation, sketching, etc), Life Skill (budgeting, cooking, sewing, etiquette, chess, etc), Nutrition (health, wellness, etc), Physical Education/Recreation (cheerleading, organized sports, game leadership, etc).  Observe and manage behavior of students according to approved procedures under the direction of the Site Program Supervisor.  Be alert and sensitive to individual needs of the children and follow all health and safety practices.

Programs can run for an extended period of time and for periods of shorter duration.  If you have expertise and interest in providing instruction in these areas, or another area not mentioned above, you are strongly encouraged to apply.

Volunteer Instructors-Bitty Sports

  • Qualifications/Duties: Must be at least 18 years of age.  Exp. working with children ages 3-4 years
  • Hours: Saturday mornings

Volunteer Gymnastic Assistants

  • Qualifications/Duties: Should have previous gymnastic experience; must be at least 18 years of age. Enthusiastic individuals who love working with children ages 18 months to 15 years old for gymnastics activities.

AQUATICS

Aquatics Assistant

  • Qualifications: Assist lifeguards and swim instructors at pool site and implement YMCA practices that ensure the safety and quality of all swimming lessons for all participants.
  • Hours: M-F: Hours Vary; Timeframe: June 21-July 30, 2010
