Workability: Since 2013, the Anaheim Family YMCA and Anaheim Union High School District have teamed up to provide a professional work experience for adults with special needs. Using the special skills and knowledge of participants, the YMCA offers work-based learning opportunities and experiences which help in different functions of the organization.
“I feel really happy when I come to the YMCA,” said Anthony, participant of the Work Transition Program. “I like it because every week, it’s different jobs and I like to shred and help in the office.”
Through this special collaboration, not only do the Workability Program participants get an opportunity to work independently, explore different job tasks or develop new skills, but they also get to practice their social skills at a work place.
