Anaheim Family YMCA Board of Directors Announces Rick Martens as Interim President & CEO
The Anaheim Family YMCA Board of Directors has announced Rick Martens, Ed.D as Interim President and CEO, effective December 7, 2017. Martens continues the historical legacy of the Anaheim Family YMCA, which was founded in 1911 and currently serves over 7,000 youth in over 50 program sites each day throughout Anaheim, Cypress, Stanton, and La Palma.
“The Anaheim Family YMCA has played an integral part in my life, and in the lives of my own children and other family members,” Martens said. “I look forward to working with our board, residents, partners, and supporters to ensure that all families benefit from the Y’s vital programs, just as my family has.”
Martens is a retired administrator with the Anaheim Union High School District. His YMCA roots date back to 1973 when he attended Camp Fox for the first time. He has been connected to the Anaheim Family YMCA ever since, serving as a camp counselor, camp director, committee chair for several YMCA initiatives, board member, and capital project consultant.
“We are very pleased to have Dr. Martens lead this organization,” said Frank Donavan, Ed.D., Chair of the YMCA Board of Directors and Superintendent of Magnolia School District. “We are confident he will continue to grow the Anaheim Family YMCA and advance its mission to strengthen our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.”
As part of the official process, the YMCA board of directors is working with Y-USA to conduct a search for CEO, of which Martens will have the opportunity to participate.
