On June 1, families gathered at Pearson Park to celebrate the Anaheim Achieves Showcase titled “Find Your Future,” presented by the Anaheim Family YMCA.

Every school in the Anaheim Achieves after-school program (36 elementary, six junior high and five high schools) hosted a booth and provided an activity for families that focused on a career.

These careers included fitness training, architecture, technology, firefighting, film production, photography and FBI agent, to name a few.

“At the Y, our focus is to nurture the potential of every child and teen,” said Norma Ruiz, YMCA program director. “We wanted this year’s showcase to inspire kids by letting them know that they can achieve their dreams and pursue any career they desire.”

Once the booths were explored, families crowded the auditorium to see the student performances, which included Polynesian dances, hip-hop routines, singing, tap dancing, cheerleading, ballet folklorico, a guitar trio and more.

To top off the day’s event, a representative for Assemblyman Tom Daly, D-Anaheim, presented a certificate of recognition to Anaheim Achieves for highlighting career exploration and encouraging young people to imagine a future bright with success.
