Event helps send kids to camp
More than 100 people participated in the 12th Annual Alden Esping Putting Classic on Saturday, June 16 at Golfer’s Paradise. The event raised $38,000 to help send more than 75 underprivileged youth to the Anaheim Family YMCA’s camp programs this summer.
Named after long-time YMCA Camp Director and Volunteer Alden Esping, this event is a fun opportunity for friends of the Anaheim Family YMCA to help send kids to camp. This year, t “This was our most successful event yet, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and event participants,” said Javier Gonzalez, YMCA director. “Camp is an extraordinary time of discovery for youth in Anaheim, and this event has made it possible for kids to go to Camp Fox or Camp Miehana this summer!”
The event honored YMCA camp directors and leaders, many of whom started as youth campers and continue today as volunteer leaders. YMCA camp leaders continue to help youth flourish through life-changing experiences.
YMCA Camp Miehana for ages 7-12 is coming up July 28-Aug. 4, 2012. Located in the San Bernardino Mountains, Camp Miehana is a safe place for youth to experience fun learning and connection with the outdoors.
